On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Musikkapelle Natz (Natz Wind Band), the festive concert polka Gestern Heute Morgen (Yesterday Today Tomorrow) was composed by South Tyrolean composer Tobias Psaier.

The introduction paints a vivid musical picture of the past: a simple melody is first presented by the 1st Flugelhorn and Tenor Horn. After eight measures, the 2nd Flugelhorn, Baritone, and Tuba join in, expanding the tonal palette and adding depth and warmth to the musical idea. From this calm and reflective atmosphere, the work gradually unfolds, taking the listener on a musical journey through the different eras of the band’s history.

The premiere took place in 2022, following a two-year delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic, during the anniversary concert of the Musikkapelle Natz under the baton of newly appointed conductor Kilian Kier. At just 18 years of age, he was among the youngest wind band conductors in South Tyrol.

Combining the rich traditions of wind band music with memorable melodies and a contemporary musical language, Yesterday Today Tomorrow is an engaging and versatile concert polka. It is ideally suited for gala concerts, anniversary celebrations, and other special concert occasions.
