High mountains and spectacular rock formations – this is how the Dolomites present themselves, a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps, which was formed more than 200 million years ago. The Pale Mountains – as the Dolomites are also often called due to their dolomite rock – shimmer at sunset in a reddish light, which makes them appear almost fairytale-like.

A full 350 named mountain peaks over 3,000 meters rise into South Tyrol’s skies. The highest among the mountain giants is the Ortler, which is almost 4,000 meters high.

Due to the special beauty and geology, which allows a view into the most diverse phases of of the earth’s history, the Dolomites were added to the World Heritage List on July 26, 2009.
Particularly characteristic for this mountain group is the abrupt change between rugged cliffs and gentle alpine meadows.

The concert march describes the beauty of this landscape as a unique sound image
and leads through this varied, fascinating and legendary mountain world.
