Missa Brevis in Es (wind band edition)
Information about the Mass:
The “Sanctus” from the present Missa Brevis in E♭ was originally composed in 2017, as the composer increasingly turned his attention to sacred music. Driven by the desire to create a complete Mass, a full setting of the Ordinary gradually took shape over the course of five years. The composition’s structure is simple and does not rely on the often-used fugal technique. Yet, through a combination of polyphonic and chordal writing, along with the skillful use of constantly resolving dissonances, it creates unexpectedly new and captivating sonic experiences.
Instrumentation possibilities:
In addition to the versatile scoring options offered by edition ME2229, MISSA BREVIS IN E♭ for mixed choir, organ, brass, and timpani, the full score ME2309 provides the complete version for wind band, including Swiss parts. The composition is designed to be performed either purely instrumentally or with a four-part choir. The choir parts from the reduced edition are fully compatible with the wind band version and are available under the publisher number ME2229-02 Choir Parts.
