Composer Simon Gamper on his work, citation: “I have always been fascinated by the organic, natural and breathing sound of the bass clarinet. In “ATEM” (breath) I have expanded this sound with additional breaths and breathing noises of the musicians.
Extremely close and intimate microphoning during the sound recording makes the piece a breathing, but also a wooden, mechanical being.”
ATEM was composed on commission for the Brunecker Krebsgespräche (Bruneck Cancer Talks) and was used in the film „Krebs – reden wir darüber“(Cancer – let’s talk about it) by Stefan Ghedina and Verena Duregger.
