The powerful march \u2018NOUE\u2019 honours not only the Musikkapelle Welschnofen (wind band), but also the roots of the municipality of the same name. \u2018Noue\u2019 \u2013 this is how Welschnofen was first mentioned in 1142 in a deed of donation from Bishop Hartmann of Brixen to the Neustift monastery; an old word from the Romansh language (terra nova), meaning \u2018new clearing\u2019 or \u2018new land\u2019. Over time, the addition of \u2018Welsch\u2019 gave rise to the present-day Welschnofen \u2013 a reference to the original linguistic and cultural influences.
\nThe march was composed in 2023 to mark the 175th anniversary of the Musikkapelle Welschnofen and combines tradition with a proud present.
