{"id":729,"count":1,"description":"Helmuth Valersi was born in 1957 in Laives (South Tyrol, Italy). As the first South Tyrolean to do so, he studied percussion at the Conservatory of the City of Innsbruck under Prof. Fred Aigner and Dieter Kahler. He graduated with distinction in 1980.\r\n\r\nHe began his teaching career in 1978 as an instructor of percussion and music theory at the Directorate of the German and Ladin Music Schools of South Tyrol. Since then, he has taught continuously at the music schools of Brixen (Bressanone), Auer (Ora), Leifers (Laives), Eppan (Appiano), and Bozen (Bolzano), shaping the musical education of numerous students over several decades.\r\nFrom 2002 to 2012, he served as Head of the Department for Percussion, Jazz, and Popular Music. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing new curricula, selecting appropriate teaching materials, and organizing professional development programs for teachers. He further refined his expertise through advanced training with internationally renowned instructors, including Andy Gillmann, Ren\u00e9 Cremers, Mike Quinn, Andr\u00e9 V\u00e1rkonyi, Gerald Endstrasser, Hans Peter Becker, Peter Sadlo, and Howard Stevens.\r\n\r\nAlongside his pedagogical work, Helmuth Valersi has pursued a versatile artistic career spanning a wide range of musical styles. Until 2015, he performed as a percussionist with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, collaborating with distinguished conductors. He also appeared as a timpanist with the Bolzano Cathedral Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Herbert Paulmichl, participating in numerous concerts and solemn liturgical celebrations.
