He studied also conducting with Maestro Edgar Seipenbusch in Innsbruck (A). \r\nHe is a composer of orchestral music, chamber music and Symphonic Band music which has been performed in several countries of Europe and America, and has won several prizes of national and international level such as \u201eL\u2019Ulivo D\u2019Oro\u201c (\u201eThe golden olive-tree\u201c) in Imperia (I), the \u201eTiroler Gedenkjahr 84\u201d (\u201eThe memory year 84 of Tyrol\u201d) in Bolzano (I), the \u201eG.B.Viotti\u201d prize in Vercelli (I), the \u201eLa Ville de Bagneux\u201d (\u201eThe city of Bagneux\u201d) in Paris (F), the \u201dCitt\u00e0 di Trieste\u201d (\u201eThe city of Trieste\u201d) (I), the \u201eIbla Award\u201d in New York (USA) and 2021 the 4th International competition for band composition \u201eAngelo Inglese\u201d Bari (I) with the Symphonic Piece \u201e The Descent of Inanna into the Netherworld\u201d.\r\nHe has composed also pieces of music for theatre such as a musical comedy for children \u201eUfo\u201d and the opera \u201eDer grosse M\u00e4useprozess zu Glurns\u201d (\u201eThe big mice-trial of Glurns\u201d). His experimental music has been performed in important exhibitions like \u201eMusica x occhi\u201d (\u201eMusic for eyes\u201d) and \u201eWords Place\u201d at the Museum of Modern Art of Ginevra (CH) and the \u201eExhibition seven sins\u201d at the \u201eMuseion\u201d of Bolzano (I). \r\nUnterhofer has extended his work to the medium of film and video art, and is very successful in both disciplines, as attested to by his performances at the \u201eTV Zero\u201c festival in Merano, at \u201eRimusicazioni Harlock\u201c in Bolzano and at the international \u201eReligion Today\u201c festival in Trento. His work \u201eTrain\u201c from his multimedia opera \u201eBorderline\u201c will first be broadcast exclusively by ORF (Austrian Broadcasting and Television). Beside his important activity as a composer he is also a conductor of orchestra, and he is keen to realise new musical projects as much as possible together with repertoire music. Exemples of this work are the \u201emultimedia\u201d opera \u201eBorderline\u201d, the Swedish Musical \u201eElvira Madigan\u201d, which he orchestrated and conducted, and the sacral opera \u201eRequiem-Genesis\u201d, which he composed, conducted and stage-set. \r\nHis music is present in important festivals of contemporary music. Heinrich Unterhofer had several recording made for Rai (Italian Broadcasting and Television), for the \u201eORF\u201d and is published by Pizzicato-Helvetia (Udine-Horgen) and M. Boario (Torino). Since 2023 he has been working with the South Tyrolean music publisher MUNODI Edition.\r\nFrom 1993 to 1995 Heinrich Unterhofer was Artistic Director of the Music Department at the SKB (S\u00fcdtiroler K\u00fcnstlerbund - South Tyrolean Artists' Association) in Bolzano. From 2014-2017 he was Director at the Conservatory \u201eC. Monteverdi\u201d of Bolzano. For the school year 2018\/19, he received a teaching assignment in the department of media production \u201eFreies Projekt\u201c at the Hochschule OWL in Detmold (Germany). Since 1992 he has been professor of composition at the Conservatory \u201eC.
